Privacy Policy
Plain Language Overview
At The Live Network PBC, we take privacy very seriously. Many of us who work here were concerned about privacy and ethical data usage long before it was in the news. To that end, this Privacy Policy and our associated documents spell out how we collect and use data when you visit one of our sites. The short version is that we use such data to provide the services that you are seeking, optimize the services that you are seeking, and let you know about other services that might be relevant to you. Some of this we do on our own sites and some of this we do through common marketing platforms that have their own safeguards in place. Our data practices are directly in line with the services that we offer in the domains of mental health, education, prevention, and treatment. We want to do the right thing and we actively work at it. If you ever have any concerns in this area, please bring them to our attention and we will take them seriously.
Detailed Privacy Policy
Protecting your private information is our priority. This Statement of Privacy applies to www.Therapy.Live, www.TLN.Live, and The Live Network, PBC. (“TLN”) and governs data collection and usage. For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, unless otherwise noted, all references to The Live Network, PBC. or TLN include www.Therapy.Live, www.TLN.Live, Moving the Needle, and all associated brands and subdirectories that are publicly viewable (the "Site"). Secure portals beyond the publicly-viewable Site will be governed by their respective Terms of Service or User Agreements. The Site is comprised of various web pages operated by The Live Network PBC (“TLN”, “Therapy Live", “we", "our", or "us”). By using the Site, you consent to the data practices described in this statement.
Collection of your Personal Information
TLN may collect personally identifiable information, such as your name. If you purchase TLN's products and services, we collect billing and credit card information. This information is used to complete purchase transactions. We may also collect anonymous demographic information, which is not unique to you, such as your probable age, gender, professional credentials, and location. We may gather additional personal or non-personal information in the future.
Information about your computer hardware and software may be automatically collected by TLN and the Site. This information can include: your IP address, browser type, domain names, access times, and referring website addresses. This information is used for the operation of the Service, to maintain quality of the Service, to better serve relevant ads where applicable, and to provide general statistics regarding use of the Site.
Please keep in mind that if you directly disclose personally identifiable information or personally sensitive data through TLN's public message boards or other publicly available portions of the Site, this information may be collected and used by others without regard to the polices of TLN or its affiliates.
We encourage you to review the privacy statements of websites you choose to link to from the Site so that you can understand how those websites collect, use and share your information. TLN is not responsible for the privacy statements or other content on websites outside of TLN’s Site.
Use of your Personal Information
TLN collects and uses your personal information to operate the Site, engage in typical business practices, and deliver and attempt to optimize the Services you have requested.
We may also use your personally identifiable information to inform you of other products or services available from TLN and our affiliates. We may also contact you via surveys to conduct research about your opinion of current services or of potential new services that may be offered.
The Live Network PBC does not sell, rent, or lease its customer lists to third parties.
TLN may, from time to time, contact you on behalf of external business partners about a particular offering that may be of interest to you. In those cases, your unique personally identifiable information (e-mail, name, address, telephone number) is not transferred to the third party. TLN may share data with trusted partners to help perform statistical analysis, send you email or postal mail, provide customer support, optimize advertising, or arrange for deliveries. All such third parties are prohibited from using your personal information except to provide these services to TLN, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information.
TLN may keep track of the websites and pages our users visit within the Site, in order to determine what TLN Services are the most popular. This data may be used to deliver customized content suggestions and advertising within the Site to customers whose behavior indicates that they are interested in a particular subject area.
TLN will disclose your personal information, without notice, only if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on TLN or the Site; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of TLN; and, (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of TLN, or the public.
Billing and Payments
In addition to the practices listed in this document, TLN is also governed by the policies of Stripe and Stripe Connect for the purposes of billing and transactions. The current version of the Stripe Connect account agreement can be found here: https://stripe.com/us/connect-account/legal and the current version of the Stripe privacy policy can be found here: https://stripe.com/us/privacy
Use of Cookies
TLN and the Site may use "cookies" or “pixels” to help you personalize your online experience. A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you. These may be generated by TLN directly or in concert with one of our trusted advertising partners.
One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time. The purpose of a cookie is to tell the Web server that you have returned to a specific page. For example, if you personalize TLN pages, or register with the Site or Services, a cookie helps TLN to recall your specific information on subsequent visits. This simplifies the process of recording your personal information, such as billing addresses, shipping addresses, and so on. When you return to the same TLN Site, the information you previously provided can be retrieved, so you can easily use TLN features or Services that you may have customized.
You have the ability to accept or decline cookies or other similar web tracking. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser settings to decline cookies if you prefer. If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to fully experience the interactive features of TLN’s Services or Sites that you visit.
Strong Encryption and HIPAA Compliance
When personal information (such as a credit card number) is transmitted to other websites, it is protected through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol. Many other portions of the site contain encryption that meets or exceeds HIPAA standards (256-bit elliptical encryption).
Please be aware, however, that you still may be able to inadvertently disclose protected health information (PHI) or other important data through your own actions on publicly or semipublicly viewable portions of the Site. While encryption and similar security protocols will do a good job of protecting transmissions from third party interception, it will do little to protect disclosures that you might choose to openly make on the Site (username, information in posts, etc.).
Children Under Thirteen
TLN does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of thirteen (13) years. If you are under the age of thirteen (13), you must ask your parent or guardian for permission to use the Site. Parents should be aware that the Site was neither designed nor optimized for use by persons under the age of thirteen (13) years or in jurisdictions where their use is contrary to law. If you as a parent or guardian elect to allow a child under the age of thirteen (13) years to access this site, you assert that you will assume the full responsibility and liability for such an action.
Citizens of the EU
While TLN consistently strives to meet or exceed best practices in the areas of privacy, reliability, and ethical conduct, the Site was not specifically designed for use in the European Union or its jurisdictions.
